Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to keep characters superposed by television (TV) video signals always a constant brightness by applying pulses with large amplitude to the part where character signals of TV video signals are superposed so as to be reverse polarity and making the levels of character signals uniform. CONSTITUTION:Video signal A, character signal B and subtracted pulse signal d', which is obtained by amplifying the pulse of signal B up to a stated amplitude, are applied to terminals 1, 3 and 3' respectively. Pulse signal -d' with reverse polarity is superposed to the stated part of signal A by subtraction circuit 25 and output signal D of circuit 25 is entered into DC restoration circuit 26. Circuit 26 uniforms variable DC leves to a stated standard level and supplies level-uniformed signals to clip circuit 27. Circuit 27 clips signal D with clip level CL which is lower than the stated standard level and thus original signal A is supplied to character signal insertion circuit 28 as a clipped signal up to CL with signal d'. After being delayed for a stated period after signal d' by delay circuit 29, signal B is applied to circuit 28 and inserted into the clipped places with some gaps to output video signal E with a constant character signal level.
