Abstract

PURPOSE: To print an underline with a constant density by a method wherein a ribbon lift is changed in a minute amount concurrently with a ribbon feeding only when the underline is printed in the printer utilizing a multistrike type ink ribbon.

CONSTITUTION: In case the underline is formed by the continuous printing, the ribbon feed same as the case of ordinary printing or the constant amount ribbon feed, in such degree that feeding is effected so as to correspond to one by several of the width of the type, is effected. Concurrently, the ribbon lift is shifted down sequentially in a minute amount and the printing is effected from the first typing, which is effected at the ordinary printing position to the second and third typing, which are shifted sequentially in the minute amount. When the fifth typing is finished, the ribbon is shifted up again to the normal printing position. When the type except the underline is inputted as a printing data, the ribbon lift is returned to the ordinary position. Thus, the underline, never showing the uneven density, may be obtained.
