Abstract
PURPOSE:To permit a magnetic head to access a desired track position rapidly and accurately, by controlling the raidus-directional movement of the magnetic head over a turntable through an access device while detecting its moving position via many switches. CONSTITUTION:As a head movement command is given with key 22, turntable 1 is returned to its reference position temporarily by its own driving motor, and helical gear 3 fitted to head feed screw 4 gets stationary at the reference position. Next, key information from keys 22 is compared by comparing circuit 24 with current-head- position detection information arriving at photodetector input terminal 20 via switches consisting of head-position detection bar 13 equipped with light emitting element 19 and many photodetectors 15... arranged in the radius direction of table 1. In response to this comparison information, access motor 12 operates and access that the head is moved in the radius direction of table 1 without reference to the operation of table 1 is controlled. Therefore, the access of the magnetic head to a desired track position on the magnetic sheet provided with a sprial track is attained rapidly and accurately.
