Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide granular urea suitable for surface coating, by the multi-stage granulation of molten composition composed mainly of urea with plurality of jet granulation towers, wherein the first stage tower is supplied with core materials, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A molten composition U composed mainly of urea is fed with cold air flow A to a jet granulation tower, and the produced granules are classified with a classifier 9. The larger granules are taken out as the product, and the under-sized granules are returned to the jet layer. In the above procedure, a plurality of jet granulation towers 1W5 are used as the jet granulation tower to carry out the multi- stage granulation, the first-stage granulator 1 is supplied with seed urea which becomes the core of the granule, and the other granulators 2-5 are supplied with undersized granules obtained by the classification with the classifier 9. Since the size of the granule increases gradually, the obtained granular urea has a smooth surface and uniform diameter, and consequently, the coating for the control of dissolution can be facilitated.
