Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a metal surface hydrophilic, and to improve the water-wettability thereof, by coating the surface with an inorganic-organic composite product obtained by reacting water-dispersible silica with a water-soluble organic polymer under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A metal surface is coated with an inorganic-organic composite product obtained by reacting (A) an aqueous dispersion of water-dispersible silica with (B) an aqueous solution or dispersion of a water-soluble or dispersible organic polymer (pref. having OH, COOH, amino group, etc. in the molecule, e.g. acrylic copolymer), in the presence of (C) a reactive silane compound such as divinyl methoxysilane. The weight ratio (solid basis) of A:B is 30:70W95:5.
EFFECT: Gives a coating film having excellent corrosion resistance, heat resistance, solvent resistance, stain resistance, and scratch resistance. Increases the heat exchange efficiency of fins, etc. of an air conditioner, preventing the formation of a bridge caused by condensed water.
