Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent breaking of the cables to be tested by winding both end sides of the cables to be tested on another drum and hooking thereon.
CONSTITUTION: Both ends 1a, 1b sides of the cable 1 to be tested are wound around an outer periphery of another drum 2, 3 more than once, the respective ends 1a and 1b are fixed to drum 2, 3 by fixing means 4,5. Thus, when a fixing chuck 11 is fixed and a stretching end chuck 12 is stretched by a stretching mean such as a hydraulic cylinder and the like and tension is applied to the cables 1 to be tested, a vertical resistance is generated between the cables 1 and the respective drums 2, 3, friction retaining force is generated, tention applied to the hooking ends 1a, 1b is reduced, and the break in end is prevented. Further, centering on pins 9, 10, drum holders 6, 7 are rotated, thereby the cables 1 being alligned with the pins 9, 10 and the chucks 11, 12 on a straight line, and axis core of the cables 1 coinciding with that of a tension testing machine and moment being not applied to the tension testing machine.
