Abstract

878,005. Stranding cores. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A. G. May 16, 1960 [May 14, 1959], No. 17284/60. Addition to 850,743. Class 109. The apparatus for producing twisted cable of the parent Specification is modified by the inclusion of a colouring device and drying device for applying identifying colour to each separate core before the cable is formed. As shown, each of four cores 13 is pulled from its own fixed container 105, over a guide roller 205 which is adjustably braked, and through the associated colouring device 206 and drying device 207 to a common guide roller 208 ; all four sets of apparatus lying on the same side of the main machine. The cores then pass, via guide rollers 209, 210, to the balancing device and twisting means described in the parent Specification. In further forms a common colouring device and/or a common drying device may be used for all cores ; guide roller 208 may have separate grooves for each core or may be replaced by separate rollers, take off roller 210 may also be replaced by a separate roller for each core.
