Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate benzene from a mixture of benzene, cyclohexene, and cyclohexane, by adsorbing benzene with Y-type aluminosilicate zeolite, and desorbing the adsorbed benzene easily from the adsorbent using a specific alkylbenzene as a desorbing agent.
CONSTITUTION: Benzene is adsorbed selectively from a mixture of benzene, cyclohexene, and cyclohexane, with a Y-type aluminosilicate zeolite, and the adsorbed benzene is desorbed with a novel desorbing agent composed mainly of an alkylbenzene having a total carbon number of 7W10, and a number of alkyl groups of 1W3, e.g. toluene, ethylbenzene, propylbenzene, butylbenzene, etc. The desorbing agent can be recycled and reused continuously.
