Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a permanent magnetic alloy with good workability and magnetic property by adding a specific amount of Zr to Fe-Cr-Co based alloy and applying solution heat treatment, magnetic field processing and aging.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy ingot consisting of Cr: 17W45%, Co: 8W20%, Zr: 0.01W 5% and the balance Fe is prepared and is processed by hot forging, hot rolling and cold rolling to produce formed body. This undergoes solution heat treatment at 850W1085°C, and magnetic field treatment at 590W650°C. The following secondary aging treatment is performed at a temperature 200°C or less lower than the temperature of magnetic field treatment, then the product is either cooled at controlled rate or is maintained at that temperature. The product may be cooled to secondary aging temperature immediately after the magnetic field treatment. The added Zr facilates heat treatment and provides a good workability, thus offering a permanent magnet having the maximum energy product of 6.5 MG.Oe or more.
