Abstract
PURPOSE: An aminoacylase originating from microorganism is made to act on an N- acylaminoacid to effect the asymmetric hydrolysis, thus producing optically active 3-hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)phenylglycine.
CONSTITUTION: An aminacylase originating from microorganism as from molds or Azotobacter is made to act on N-acetyl or N-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)-DL-phenylglycine to effect the asymmetric hydrolysis. 3-Hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)-L-phenylglycine and N-acetyl- or N-benzoly-3-hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)-D-phenylglycine are adsorbed on a strongly acidic ion exchange resin from the reaction mixture, then isolated.
