Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the freezing of seal surface for automobile, etc., in cold areas by coating film-forming material containing fluorine-containing homopolymer and copolymer powders and an adhesive on the seal surface of weather strip.
CONSTITUTION: Fluorine-containing copolymer (e.g., tetrafluoroethylene-propylene copolymer, etc.) and fluorine-containing homopolymer (e.g., polytetrafluoroethylene, etc.) powders and an adhesive, e.g., epoxy resin, etc., are mixed to form a film-forming material, and the film-forming material is coated on the seal surface of the weather strip 1 in contact with the body, door, or window of car and then heat-treated at a proper temperature to form the film 2. As a result, the formation of the water-repellent film prevents the adhesion of water to the seal surface 1, thus eliminating freezing, wearing, emission of abnormal sound, etc., in cold areas because of its excellent water repellency and lubiricity.
