Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a mirror plate having a side edge portion almost protected from cracking, chipping and linear corrosion by forming a silver layer, a copper layer and a coating layer on the back side of a glass plate; chamfering a side edge portion of the plate; covering the whole back side with a synthetic resin film; and coating the chamfered portion with synthetic resin.
CONSTITUTION: Silver layer 2 and copper layer 3 are formed on the back side of glass plate 1, and on layer 3 coating layer 4 is formed by applying an inorganic coating such as minium. A side edge portion of the back side is chamfered so that plate 1 is also chamfered. The whole back side including chamfered portion 5 is then covered with synthetic resin film 6, and portion 5 is further coated with synthetic resin 7. Thus, penetration of air into film 6 is prevented, so the resistance of portion 5 to cracking and linear corrosion can be increased.
