Abstract

PURPOSE: To continuously and accurately measure the attenuated quantity of an object which has a wide dynamic range as to the attenuated quantity, by providing a microwave attenuation measuring unit with a timer to intermittently operate a PIN modulator.
CONSTITUTION: A relay 12 provided on the input side of a comparison amplifier 8' and another relay 11 provided on the control current input side of a PIN modulator 5 are opened or closed in connection with a timer 10. For example, the relays 11, 12 are closed for several seconds per sixty seconds to operate the PIN modulator 5. A capacitor C is loaded on the input and output of an operational amplifier 14. When the relay 12 is closed, comparison with a reference voltage 15 is effected and a measured value determined by resistors R1, R2 is picked out. When the relay 12 is opened, an original value stored in the capacitor C is picked out. As a result, the comparison amplifier 8' is provided as a holding circuit and can maintain an output to a display circuit 13. Thus, there is no attenuated quantity fluctuation in a measuring system even if an attenuated quantity with a dynamic range from 0dB to 70dB is continuously measured for more than a month. Therefore, accurate measurement is enabled.
