Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise cooling efficiency at the grinding work by forming a number of grinding liquid flowpaths on the surface to be ground at the time of grinding by using granular grindstone pieces having a grain diameter of a specific value as grind particales.
CONSTITUTION: Metal bond grindstones formed by mixing diamond grind particles or cubic system boron nitride grind particles with a metal powder and sintering the mixture, are pulverized into granular grindstone pieces having a mean particle diameter of 0.3W3mm. The grind particles are sintered and shaped by a bonding agent such as a resin or a soft metal to obtain a grindstone using the grindstone pieces as grind particles. When grind working is carried out by such a grindstone, a number of grinding liquid flowpaths are formed on the surface to be ground. As a result, the cooling effect at the time of grinding is improved, and chips are removed efficiently and clogs are also reduced.
