Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid the mistaken detection which is caused by the noise signal by giving checking to the correlation relating the duration of each signal received by several AE sensors and then blocking the detection for the generating position of the AE wave in case the correlation mentioned above is weak.
CONSTITUTION: The AE wave generated on tested object 1 is received by AE sensors 2a and 2b each. The arrival time difference and the arrival order of the AE wave signals to sensors 2a and 2b are detected by counter 4 and arrival order deciding unit 5 to be then memorized in register 7. Signal process circuit 8 detects the generating position of the AE wave. Both the AE wave signal and the noise signal are supplied to correlation circuit 10, and comparator 14 delivers the reset signal in case the correlation is weak for the output between sensors 2a and 2b. With this reset signal, each information memorized in register 7 is reset to block the detection for the generating position of the AE wave.
