Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect developing concentrations with high accuracy by detecting the concentration of the developer depositing on the developer path and letting the developer flow down in a filled state after the detection thereby cleaning the developer path. CONSTITUTION:When a cover 25 is closed while applying voltage to the electrodes 11, 12, which are provided separately from the circulating path of two-component type developer and are provided with the light source 23 and photoelectric element 24 sealed with dustproof covers 21, 22 on the outside surface and allowing the developer to flow down in the developer path formed by said electrodes 11, 12, then the toner diposits on the electrode 12, etc. Since there is no phenomenon that the deposited quantity of this toner flows down, the transmitted light is well detected by the light source 23 and element 24 without being interfered. Next, when the develo- per is flowed down in a filled state in the developer path by opening the cover 25, the deposited toner is cleaned. This constitution causes the developer concentration to be detected with high accuracy and if the replenishment of the toner to the developer is controlled according to the comparison of the detecting signal and reference signal, good copying may be accomplished.
