Abstract

PURPOSE: To continuously and efficiently dehydrate sludge or the like, by using a water absorber shaped in an endless belt and utilizing a capillary phenomenon.
CONSTITUTION: A water absorber such as a porous sponge-like substance, fibrous felt or fiberglass felt of high water absorption capacity is shaped as an endless conveyor belt. When sludge or the like 1 is conducted onto the belt 10, the water contained in the sludge or the like is absorbed. The dehydrated sludge is scraped off by a scraper 3. The belt is washed by water in a washing vessel 4 and removed of the water by squeeze rolls 6. The belt is moved into a raw liquid vessel 1 again. The same process is thus repeated.
