Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a character mark sensor having no occurrence of error due to vibration or noise by a method wherein a time supervising device for generating a character mark signal is provided when an electric output from the character mark sensor means is produced for more than a specified period of time.
CONSTITUTION: Character mark 3 provided in response to characters 2 on a character carriage 1 is sensed by a sensor means 7 such as electromagnetic pickups. Electric output from the sensor means 7 is applied to a wave shaping amplifier 12, and output of the amplifier 12 is applied to a time supervising means 40. That is, the time supervising means 40 generates a character mark signal only when the output from the wave shaping amplifier 12 is generated intermittently for more than a specified period of time. Thereby, the signal generated erroneously due to vibration or noise etc. has a small wave width, so that the time supervising means 40 will not generate any character mark signals.
