Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the increase of steps only with an increased number of simple parts by installing an interlocking mechanism which permits only movement of either of shift rods between two shift rods and two shift arms.
CONSTITUTION: When a shift is made from neutral position to the 5th speed, shift rod for the 5th speed and reverse operation through the intermediary of shift block 31 is moved to the right by actuating shift lever 10. As a result, the 5th speed shift arm 5 is brought into contact with stopper 71 installed on the shift rod, moving to the right together with shift rod 3. Thus a shift is made in the 5th step. In addition, following the movement of the aforementioned shift rod for the 5th speed and reverse operation 3, interlock pins 91, 92 and pin 93 of the interlocking mechanism are moved downward. Therefore, other shift rods 1 and 2 do not slide. The same is true about the case when a shift is reversed from neutral position.
