Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide powder primer capable of extending the application range of α-cyanoacrylate by including a powder material having both capacities as sealing agent and as hardening accelerator for an instantaneous adhesive cyanoacrylate.
CONSTITUTION: α-Cyanoacrylate, (ACA) generally utilized as an instantaneous adhesive, has a low viscosity and high permeability in general. If applied to a porous body, it immediately diffuses into the internal, a little quanitity remains on the surface, and therefore a desireble adhesive force is hard to obtain. To prevent this phenomenon, a material having an effect as hardening accelerator for ACA as well as sealing agent is coated, in advance, on the surface to be adhered. Suitable material includes calcium hydroxide, water glass, rice or wheat germs. These materials are used in the form of powder, or molded stick by use of binder such as polyvinyl alcohol so that the stick is preliminarily coated on the surface being bonded.
