Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize an excellent zero-cross switch of relatively-simple constitution by exercising control over a TRIAC by using a PUT coupler. CONSTITUTION:The moment PUT5 is irradiated with light, a gate current flows through PUT5 with transistor TR1 OFF to trigger thyristor Th2, and consequently the output of rectifier circuit 4 is cut off by thyristor Th2, so that triac 3 will turn ON by a large current flowing through resistance R2. Since thyristor Th1 stays ON even if PUT5 would be irradiated with light with transistor TR1 ON, thyristor Th3 can not be triggered and when thyristor Th1 turns ON at a following zero-cross point, TRIAC3 turns ON.
