Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in quality and workability by forming pattern electrodes and positioning marks on upper and lower substrates, thence piercing through-holes to the substrates in alignment to the foregoing marks then combining the upper and lower substrates and fixing these.
CONSTITUTION: An upper electrode substrate 1 comprises forming pattern electrodes 3a, 3b, etc., their respective lead wires 17 and a positioning mark 18 on a transparent substrate 1a such as of glass thence piercing a through-hole 14a in alignment to the positioning marks 18, after which it undergoes formation of insulation films not illustrated on the surface formed with the pattern electrodes 3a, etc., formation of orientation treatment film, etc. On the other hand, a lower electrode substrate 2 comprises forming pattern electrodes 4a, etc., lead wires 19 and a positioning mark 20 similarly as mentioned above on a circular transparent substrate 2a surface and undergoes processing such as piercing. Thereafter, the upper and lower substrate electrodes 1, 2 are combined and fixed and the assembly is subjected to injection of liquid crystals and others to complete the production.
