Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in image quality, the larger size of the screen and the improvement in mechanical strength by forming a diffusion layer on the lens surface of the lenticular sheet disposed with a multiplicity of semi-cylindrical lenses in parallel on the incident side of projected images.
CONSTITUTION: A multiplicity of semi-cylindrical lenses 12 are disposed parallel to the incident side lens surface 10 of projected images and the exit side 14 forms a smooth non-lens surface. A diffusion layer 16 consists of a diffusion film and is formed on the lens surface 10. The main material of the film is, e.g., acrylic resin, vinyl chloride resin, etc. in which light diffusive pigments, coloring materials, etc. are mixed. The film is rolled after melting by heating, thence it is superposed on the thermoplastic resin sheet being a blank plate for the lenticular sheet and the lens surface 10 is formed by the matrix for semi-cylindrical lenses. In this way, the lens surface is not exposed to the observer side and therefore it does not receive any damage and enables the good holding of image quality. In addition, the larger size and higher strength of the screen may be achieved.
