Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish accurate measurement of radioactivity contained in radioactive exhaust gas preventing the formation of dew in the sampling piping and the sampler section with a lower dew point of the gas by containing a non-reactive dry gas cleaned in the radioactive exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: A dry and clean gas is fed to a radioactive exhaust gas piping l from a nuclear power facility or incinerator to dilute the total amount of the radioactive exhaust gas thereby lowering the dewpoint thereof. Then, a part of the exhaust gas is introduced into the sampler section 6 in the required amount through a sampling piping l' to perform a given measurement. Since the radioactive exhaust gas thus introduced is previously diluted by the dry gas G to control the dewpoint so that no dew is formed at a given temperature, no water is attached to the piping l' and the sampler section 6. In this manner, a smooth measurement of radioactivity can be done. After the measurement, the exhaust gas is returned to the piping l to converge.
