Abstract
PURPOSE: To keep mixture ratio constant by means of a carburetor equipped with an altitude compensating mechanism, in which sectional area of the passage for feeding altitude compensating air is designed to be variable and it can be also varied with operational conditions of engine.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of starting engine, fuel is supplied from float chamber 8 into main well 6 while being metered by main jet 7. In the main well 6, fuel is mixed with air supplied through main air bleed 9 and emulsion tube 10 and supplied to engine from nozzle 5 in small venturi 4. In operation at a high land, on the other hand, altitude compensating air is supplied from air cleaner to main well 6 through clearance between variable orifice 23 and needle 13 interconnected to an air-density detecting means, clearnace between variable orifice 19 and needle 18 moved in response to the suction vacuum and through air passage 11.
