Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit a long-term stable automatic analysis as well as improve the separation of each component by increasing the developing method for sample to plural stages in an electrophoresis used for microanalysis.
CONSTITUTION: The filter paper 1 is hanged down in the conductive liquid tanks 2 and 3 in such a way as to hang its both ends until the filter paper 1 is sufficiently wetted with the liquid, and then an electric potential enough to cause electrophoresis is applied to the filter paper 1 in the liquid tanks 2 and 3 each of which is provided with the electodes 5 and 6 connected to the power source 4. The electrode 5 is provided in a small scale at the one end of the filter paper 1, and also the electrode 6 is provided in such a way as to entirely cover the filter paper 1. When analyzing a sample in the automatic electrophoresis apparatus, the separating performance for components can be raised because the components present in a sample are developed two-dimensionally and the contamination of developed layer with sample water can be prevented by moving the filter paper.
