Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent positively the deflection of the whole clamp body, when it clamps an article to be clamped, by spanning a stiffening metal between a front clamp member and rear one.
CONSTITUTION: When an H-beam steel B is sandwiched between front and rear clamp bodies 24, 41, a connection 33 of a stiffening metal 32 is spanned between both front and rear clamp members 25, 36, whether the front or rear end of the H-beam steel B is sandwiched only between the front clamp members 25 or the rear clamp members 36 of the both clamp bodies 24, 41. Thus, force applied to the front and rear clamp members 25, 36 in the outward sidewise direction by the clamping operation is dispersed to the both clamp members 25, 36 through the stiffening metal 32. Hence, the application of the clamping force is not offset only to one of the both front and rear clamp members 25, 36 so that the movable clamp body 24 is not deflected together with its bed plate 21 and slide member 22 when it clamps the H-beam steel B.
