Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure stable welding quality irrespective of the change in the groove accuracy of the material to be welded by controlling the feed rate of a filler wire in non-consumable electrode type welding by way of the detection value of arc voltage.
CONSTITUTION: The material to be welded in welded at the groove while the filler wire 6 being fed through a feed chip 5 by a feed motor 4 and the groove are being melted by applying voltage between the weld metal zone 13 and torch 2 via power source 1 thereby producing arc 11. For example, when in the above apparatus the groove gap of the material to be welded has increased, the length of the arc 11 increases and the arc voltage increases. In such a case, said voltage is detected in a detecting circuit 8 and the difference thereof from a reference voltage value 7 is obtained in comparator 9. By said differential voltage, the feed motor 4 is controlled via amplifier circuit 10 to increase the rate of feed of the filler wire 6, whereby melt insufficiency of the weld zone is prevented.
