Abstract

PURPOSE: To judge the propriety of coins based on the maximum frequency due to the sum of inductances of the both coils, by locating one pair of coils forming high frequency magnetic field opposingly to the both sides of inspected coin in series but in opposite phase connection.
CONSTITUTION: The path of the coil 8 formed with a pair of side walls 9, 10 is tilted to one side and the coin 11 in normal inspection is moved along the side wall 8. The coils 2 and 3 located at the side walls 9 and 10 so that they oppose to the front and back of the inspected coin 11, are connected in series and opposite phase, to which the output of the oscillator 1 oscillating with constant high frequency 200kHz or more is fed to form the high frequency AC magnetic field. When the inspected coin 11 passes through, since the inductance of the coils 2, 3 is changed with the skin effect, causing the frequency of the oscillator 1. Thus, the judgement units 6 and 7 can discriminate the correct coins.
