Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the structure as an electron gun and facilitate the assembling, by causing the first grid and the directly-heated cathode structure to be integral with each other.
CONSTITUTION: The directly-heated cathode structure 21 is conductively connected to a pair of electrically conductive support members 23, 24 provided through an insulating support member 22 consisting of ceramics or the like. A film-like filament 25, which is formed on the insulating support member 22 by evaporation or sintering, has at the central portion thereof a cathode 27 fastened thereto and consisting of a substrate metal member 28 on whose surface an oxide layer is provided. Since the filament 25 is formed on the surface of the insulating support member 22, a sufficiently high mechanical strength can be obtained.
