Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the precision of measurement and the reliability by providing curved face seats with rollers, which are slightly deviated from the center of the roll, between the base of the roll chock and the housing beam and by detecting the side load applied to the roll chock. CONSTITUTION:The curved face seats 8, 9, which are deviated from the center of the roll by a slight distance a, are provided between the base of the lower roll chock 6 and the housing beam 2, plural rollers 10 are placed between both the curved face seats 8, 9. The pressure detector 11 made contact with the housing post 1 is incorporated in the side of the lower roll chock 6. When an external force is not applied to the material 5 while rolling the material, a side load TO is produced. When a forward tension sigmaF or backward tension sigmaB is applied to the material, a side load TF or TB is produced, its magnitude T is proportional to the external force sigma. Accordingly the magnitude and direction of the external force can sensitively be detected from the variation (T-TO) of the side load measured by the pressure detector 11 to improve the precision of measurement and the stability.
