Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish proper feeding of water with such an arrangement that a water retaining material is wound on a cylinder roll having a number of holes punched while a number of grooves arranged on the surface thereof whose inside is divided into two sections leaving the upper section hollow, while the wetting water passes through the lower section.
CONSTITUTION: A number of holes punched on a cylinder roll 2 and a number of grooves are arranged on the surface thereof to connect the holes. A water retaining material 1 is wound on the roll 2. A partition 3 is provided into the cylinder in such a manner to be in no way fixed thereon to separate the inside thereof into two sections, leaving the upper section hollow while the wetting water 4 passes through the lower section. In operation, as the cylinder rotates, the wetting water is absorbed by and permeated into the water retaining material 1. Thus, the wetting water is evenly fed to the surface of the plate drum 5. In addition, the upper hollow section of the cylinder 2 helps feed and drain water thereby accomplishing an efficient drain of excess water.
