Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a tire tube free from deformation by dividing the preformer body into a plurality of small segments displaceable to its center.
CONSTITUTION: An air injection valve of the tube 28 is mounted to a preform body 2 having segments 17a, 17b, 18a and 18b displaced to the center with a segment drive gear in such a manner as to be positioned at the notch A. Then, the drive gear is reversed to return the segments 17a, 17b, 18a and 18b to the ring in the arrangement and air is injected into the tube 28 from an air feed tube 41 until the given outer diameter is reached. At the same time the body 2 is turned with a motor 12 and set into a lower mold of a vulcanizer. Then, the rotation of the body 2 is halted and the segments 17a, 17b, 18a and 18b are shifted to the center to reduce the outer shape. Simultaneously with the removal of the feed pipe 14, a stuff is put into the valve of the tube 28. Then, the tube sealed with air is removed and the upper mold is closed for vulcanization.
