Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an efficient uranium isotope concentration device by composing such device from units for adiabatically expanding uranium hexafluoride (UF6), for radiating infrared laser beam, and for repeatedly exposing supercooled UF6 to infrared laser beam.
CONSTITUTION: Pressurized UF6 gas 13 from the compressor 7 is passed through the pipe 6 and introduced into the adiabatic expansion unit 1 which consists of the adiabatic expansion chamber 3 having valve 2 at one end and opened outlet at the other end, and the device 4 that actuates the valve 2. In operation, the raidation unit 5 is actuated in response to UF6 adiabatic expansion to permit infrared laser beam to be projected on UF6 in the state of supercooling. In order to perform repeated infrared laser beam projection for exposure, the device 8 actuates the unit 5 in response to either the action of the valve 2 provided at the end of the unit 1, or the pressure sensor 9 which recognizes pressure increase in the route 6 located downstream of the adiabatic expansion chamber 3.
