Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the optical fiber cable of easy execution by twisting a plurality of flat type tapes whose cross sections are formed to V-grooves in such a manner that the vertical angles of the grooves gather at the central axis, applying extrusion covering thereon and containing optical fibers in said grooves. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber cable is constituted by twisting a plurality of flat type tapes whose sections are formed to V-grooves 4 in such a manner that the vertical angles of the grooves gather at the central axis, extrusion-covering plastic resin thereon, bonding this covering 5 and the side edges of the V-grooves and containing optical fibers in the respective V-grooves 4. Here, the V-grooves 4 are twisted and if the portions between the two V-grooves 4 are torn to a suitable length at the cable terminal, they may be developed to flat surface form. This state makes the identificaton of the optical fibers easy and the flat-surface form configuration permits easy connection of the optical fibers. In this way, the optical fiber cable of ideal construction of loose aggregate and good twist structure, identification and connection characteristic may be obtained.
