Abstract
PURPOSE: To arrange pipes projecting out of a tube plate of a tubular heat exchanger, to a prescribed length, by cutting off the pipes from their inside surfaces by a cutter.
CONSTITUTION: A tool 13 comprises a guide 6 provided on the tip of a shaft 7, a cutter 3 and a stopper 4. The projecting position of the cutter 3 is adjusted by a screw 5. Namely, the position of the cutter 3 is selectively fixed to cut off a pipe projecting out of a tube plate to set the length of the pipe outside the tube plate. The tool 13 is chucked on an electric drill. The guide 6 is inserted into the pipe. The tool 13 is rotated as the stopper 5 is in contact with the tube plate. The pipe is thus cut off from its inside surface to a prescribed length by the cutter 3.
