Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate reception of sounds peculiar for a ship such as engine, auxiliary equipment, screw, cavitation sounds and the like by selectively receiving frequency bands of signal sounds by a towing array sonar. CONSTITUTION:A flag 8 for preventing occurrence of Karman vortex is mounted at a towing cable 2, which is connected through an extension unit 4 to a hydro- microphone array 5. Wires 12 such as feeders of the hydro-microphone array 5 contained in a tube 9 are bundled around a reinforcing member 13 of high strength synthetic fiber rope and thus passed through the hollow interior of a hydro-microphone 10. Since the hydro-microphone array 5 is switched to various frequency bands in use, the hydro-microphones 10 are so arrayed that they are spaced at intervals shorter at the position near the towing calbe 2 for high frequency and longer at the position far from the cable 2 for low frequency. Thus, it prevents the noises arriving from a towing vessel 1, the towing cable, drawer 7, etc. to thereby respond to the various frequency bands with light weight configuration.
