Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove heavy metal ions highly efficiency by adding active carbon to heavy metal ion-including soln. and then by simultaneously contacting org. material and air at high temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: Active carbon is added to a soln. contg. one or more of heavy metal ions selected from Cu, Fe, Mn, Ag, Ca, and Hg. This is made to slurry and treated at high temperatures in the presence of org. material and air to cause the org material to be partially oxidized while effecting the removing of heavy metal ions. The amount of org. acid produced by partial oxidation of the org. material is specified in molar ratio to 0.1W50 times the amount of heavy metal ions present in the solution to be treated. The amount of oxygen to be used for partial oxidation of the org. material is specified in molar ratio to 0.01W0.98 times the amount of CODcr of the present org. material.
