Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the amount of calcium sulfite as well as preventing the oxidation of adsorption liquid by using a calcium salt-containing liquid or slurry to which is added an antioxidant as an adsorption liquid for wet desulfurization of flue gas.
CONSTITUTION: In the removal of sulfur oxides present in flue gas in a wet desulfurization apparatus, an aqueous solution or slurry containing a calcium salt, e.g., calcium hydroxide, etc., as an absorption liquor, is mixed with approx. 10W 200ppm of an antioxidant, e.g., alpha-naphthyl amine, etc., in order to prevent the oxidation of the absorption liquor in a desulfurization apparatus. Thus, the increase in the amount of calcium sulfite formed can be attained.
