Abstract

PURPOSE:To blow-mold a synthetic resin pipe of small uniform thickness by a horizontal metal mold, by previously thinly shaping the bottom of parison which comes into contact with a lower mold and by utilizing a partial expansion percentage difference due to cooling by the lower mold. CONSTITUTION:Parison 1 is formed and extruded from an outlet port by an extruder A. The lower mold 5a of a metal mold unit 5 is rotated to feed the parison to the lower mold. A die 6 is eccentrically installed at the outlet port 2 of the extruder A. A molten resin 8 supplied by a screw 7 is formed into the cylindrical parison 1 having a thin part 1'. The parison is fed to the lower mold 5a. The upper and lower molds 5b, 5a are brought into pressural contact with each other. Compressed air is forcedly introduced into the parison 1 from an air injection valve 10 so that the parison is expanded and molded as the from of the metal mold 5. At that time, the temperature of the part of the parison in contact with the lower mold 5a is slightly reduced and has a smaller extension percentage than the remaining part of the parison. However, a shaped product of uniform thickness is obtained because the thickness of the parison is previously decreased.
