Abstract

PURPOSE: To quickly and efficiently decompose hydrazine by subjecting hydrazine- containing solution to oxidation decomposition using active carbon catalyst and hydrogen peroxide.
CONSTITUTION: Solution containing hydrazine such as deoxidation agent and corrosion prevention agent in boiler-use water is flowed into a column filled with active carbon, together with hydrogen peroxide of two moles to the hydrazine. Then, the active carbon directly acts as catalyst for reaction of hydrogen peroxide and hydrazine so that the hydrazine can be quickly and efficiently oxidized and decomposed. Thus, ths solution reduced in COD is discharged for flowing.
