Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title fine particles, useful for the suspension polymerization or copolymerization of polymerizable monomers, and dispersible easily and homogeneously in water, by precipitating an organic peroxide from an organic solvent in the presence of a water-soluble polymer.
CONSTITUTION: An organic peroxide (e.g. diacyl peroxide) is dissolved in an organic solvent such as pentane and hexane. 0.1W10 Parts, based on 1 part of the peroxide, of a water-soluble polymer (e.g. celluosic water-soluble polymer) is added to the solution, and the solvent is evaporated or distilled off at a temperature below the heat decomposition temperature of the peroxide leaving the objective fine particles of the organic peroxide. Since the particles can be dispersed uniformly in water, and dissolved in the droplets of the polymerizable monomer, the productivity of the polymer can be remarkably improved.
