Abstract

PURPOSE: To make high-sensitivity detection possible by an oil detector which detects leaking oil, by increasing a difference in dielelctric constant between osmosing oil and a rubbery base material interposed between opposite conductors by adding a high dielectric substance to the rubbery base material.
CONSTITUTION: Mutually-opposite conductors 1 and 2 are empolyed as electrodes and between both electrodes, a high dielectric substance 4 such as titanic acid barium, titanium oxide and aluminium oxide are dispersed to interpose rubbery base material 3, thereby obtaining an oil detector. As the rubber base material, silicone rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, isobutylene-isoprene rubber, ethylene propylene polymer, etc., are used which change in quality chemically or physically through the osmosis of oil. The blending rate of the high dielectric-constant substance is preferably less than 60%.
