Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent water-intake pipe from being damaged at a power plant utilizing ocean temperature difference which pumps up cold water from deep sea, by absorbing vibration of floating structure to be transmitted to the water-intake pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Floating structure 19 is connected with one end of the connecting member 10 while a water-intake pipe 11 with the other end of the same member through universal joint respectively. On the middle of the water-intake pipe 11, floating tank 12 is mounted, while a ballast tank 13 and open-water-intake nozzle 14 are installed at the bottom thereof. Since water-intake pipe 11 is so penetrating the mooring body 9 that its vertical holes 20 can turn freely, both the water-intake pipe 11 and the floating structure 9 are rotatable horizontally about the mooring bouy 9. Furthermore, both ends of the connecting member 10 being connected with the floating structure 19 and the water-intake pipe 11 using universal joints, vibration of the floating structure 19 does not influence the water-intake pipe 11.
