Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify appartus as well as reduce the force of wave onto runner by incorporating a system in which a runner is attached to floats in a such a way that its partial portion is immersed in water and the runner is turned to collect oil and water together.
CONSTITUTION: An oil-water separator is constituted of the runner 6 which is supported by the floats 1 and 1' and turned by a driving chain and the partition wall 13 hanged on the floats. When turning the runner 6, oil and water present in the vicinity of the apparatus are collected in the separator where oil separated floats up to the upper part of the separator to form a thick oil layer which is, in turn, recovered gradually. And, when the cover 15 as shown in the Fig. is provided on a part of the periphery of the runner, the contraflow of oil and water to horizontal shaft side can be prevented and thus volumetric efficiency in the transportation of oil and water by the runner can be raised.
