Abstract

PURPOSE:Fibers capable of producing the antifungal and fungicidal effect, comprising (A) a polymer consisting mainly of acrylonitrile and (B) zinc borate. CONSTITUTION:Acrylic fibers comprising (A) 99-70wt% of an acrylic polymer consisting of 40wt% or more of acrylonitrile and (B) 1-30wt% zinc borate. The zinc borate is white powder satisfying the formula (x/y=1/3-3/1; y/z=3/0-0/12), added to a solution of the polymer and spun by the conventional method. The polymer preferably consists of 40-80wt% of acrylonitrile polymer and 20-60wt% of a halogen-containing polymer, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, chlorinated paraffin and polyethylene.
