Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve measuring accuracy of a height measuring device, by measuring propagation time of an ultrasonic wave signal, being generated within a magnetic distortion line by an exciting means moving together with an overhead plate and being connected to the magnetic distortion line, to reach a signal-receiving means.
CONSTITUTION: By making an overhead plate 3 contact top of a head of a man to be measured, exciting pulse currents ip are put out from an exciting pulse generator OS at a constant cycle. This current ip, through a transformer 51 which travels along a magnetic distortion line 4 together with the overhead plate 3, causes an ultrasonic wave signal to be generated within the magnetic distortion line 4 at the position of a magnetizing coil 53 and also puts FF1 and FF2 into a set position. This ultrasonic wave signal propagates the magnetic distortion line 4, and if times of propagations to reach signal-receiving means 61 and 62 are t1 and t2, pulse signals of time amplitudes corresponding to t1 and t2 are obtained from FF1 and FF2, and as these pulse signals are impressed on an operational circuit CK, height of a man to be measured is calculated and indicated by an indication meter IN. It is possible, in this way, to achieve measurement of height of a man with high accuracy.
