Abstract
PURPOSE: To detect the internal defects of conductive material by providing a coil for generating ultrasonic wave for flowing high frequency pulse currents near the surface of the conductive material.
CONSTITUTION: When the electromagnetic ultrasonic waves having been generated arrive at the other surface or inside defect 23 of a conductive material 1, they are reflected and return in the derection of the arrow 24. When the reflected electromagnetic ultrasonic waves arrive near the surface of the conductive material 1, vibrating force 25 is produced and as a result of its mutual action with a magnetic field 10, an eddy current 26 is produced by Fleming's right-hand rule. The eddy current 26 is detected with a detecting coil 7 and the waveform thereof is displayed in a display device 28. In the display device 28, an initial pulse waveform 29 appears, then an internal defect 30 appears, thence the bottom waveform 31 from the bottom S appears.
