Abstract
PURPOSE: To read surely the code mark provided on a round article automatically wherever the angle position of this code mark is placed, by providing a rotating unit which rotates the round article and a read head relatively around the center axis line of the round article.
CONSTITUTION: Pickup unit 2 grasps a round article, for example, magnetic tape MT with finger part 22; and when MT is stored in a storage room, pressing plate 17 presses dropping MT, and MT is supported statically. By the control of a control unit, pressing rod 9 fitted to side plate 3 of the MT storage room is backed, and lever 6 is rotated by action of tensile spring 7 and presses roller 8 to the edge face of MT, and read head 4 is caused to approach the edge face of MT so that read head 4 and MT may be opposite to each other with a fixed gap. Continuosuly, rotation axis 5 connected to pulley 13 is rotated by drive of a motor, and head 4 scans the MT edge face. Head 4 is rotated at 360°+α°, so that the code mark provided on the MT edge face can be read surely.
