Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an amplitude modulation device which can maintain the constant modulation degree regardless of variation of the carrier frequency by securing an automatic adjustment for the modulation signal level in accordance with the carrier level.
CONSTITUTION: The following component units are provided: detection gate circuit 10 which detects and delivers the input signal only while the gate signal of gate input terminal 11 is within the fixed logic; level holder 12; modulation degree adjuster 13; power amplifier 12; and coupler 14 which connects part of the output of adjuster 13 and electronic amplifier/modulator 3 to gate circuit 10. The gate signal which makes pass the input to circuit 10 from coupler 14 is applied to terminal 11 only for the period during which no modulation signal exists, and thus the output of holder 12 shows the carrier wave level. The output of modulation amplifier 6 is controlled so that the semi-peak value may always be kept at the fixed relation to the carrier wave level. As a result, the output of almost fixed modulation degree can be obtained at all times with no overmodulation regardless of the output level fluctuation caused by the frequency alteration and the power voltage, the change of the peak level of the modulation signal input and other factors.
